Win: In a win bet also known by the name “straight bet”, you place your bet on the winning horse. You have won if the horse is officially declared as the winner after the race.
Ita: Ita bets are similar to win bets with the difference that you place your bet on the second placed and not on the winning horse. You have won if the horse is officially declared 2nd after the race.
Trita: Trita bets are similar to the above mentioned Win and Ita bet with the difference that you place your bet on third placed. You have won if the horse is officially declared 3rd after the race.
Place: Depending on how many horses participate in a race, your chosen horse has to finish in first, second, or third place.
If there are less than seven horses in the race, the horse must be either first or second placed (Germany). If there are less than eight horses (England & France), the horse has to be either first or second placed. If there are more than 15 horses, as it commonly happens in Ireland, the first four horses can be considered in place bet. Please note that as we do not offer ‘place’ only bets in Ireland, then the above would apply to the ‘place’ part of an ‘each way’ bet
These exceptions also apply to countries such as:
Germany, France, Italy
In case of four runners, you can bet on the first two.
In case of eight runners, you can bet on the first three.
Every runner has its own place odds, which are commonly lower than win odds as it is said to be easier to predict a place horse than a winning horse.
An Each Way bet consists of two individual bets, a win bet and a place bet. Each bet has an equal stake, for instance, 1 Euro on the ‘win’ and 1 Euro on the ‘place’, summing up to 2 Euro as total stake. With a win bet, you select to win the race, with a place bet, you select to finish either in first, second, or third place – just as explained in the cases above.
Exacta: You select two horses. You predict that horse A comes first, and horse B finishes in second place. You win only if the horses finish in the exact order.
Quinella: You select two horses to finish in first and second place. The order is irrelevant.
Swinger: You select two horses to finish in either first, second, or third place for any race with six or more runners. Consequently, the swinger bet offers three combinations to win: 1st & 2nd, 1st & 3rd, and 2nd & 3rd.
Trifecta: You select three horses A-B-C. You predict that horse A finishes in first place, horse B in second, and horse C in third place. You win only if the horses finish in the exact order.
Superfecta: You select four horses A-B-C-D. You predict that horse A finishes in first place, horse B in second, horse C in third, and horse D in fourth place. You win only if the horses finish in the exact order.
Trio: You select three horses to finish in first, second, and third place. The order is irrelevant.
